The Kukirin G2 borrows heavily from the G4’s design but keeps things lighter and tighter.

  • Cockpit: Identical to the Kukirin G4. It has the same grips, throttle, power button, horn, large touchscreen, headlight, brakes and turn signals. Its literally exactly the same so no worries there.

  • Frame & Deck: Solid, compact frame. The Kukirin G2 uses a solid stem (vs. hollow on the G4), which doesn’t provide and advantage or disadvantage, its just looks. The deck on the G2 is slightly smaller than the Kukirin G4, but still has enough room for my size 11 shoe with extra room to spare. The Kukirin G4’s deck is 20″ Long x 8.66″ Wide. The Kukirin G2’s deck is 18″ Long x 7.3″ Wide. Its not much smaller but every inch helps!

  • Folding Mechanism: The folding mechanism on the Kukirin G2 is exactly the same as the G4. Its very easy to operate by pressing on the handle on the front while at the same time pulling out the spring loaded pin on the side.  Then you use the strap hanging from the cockpit area to secure around the back kick plate. When unfolding, raise the stem and the spring loaded pin will automatically lock in place and so will the handle. Its really super easy and takes 2 seconds.

  •  Build quality: is top-tier for the price point. Just like on the G4, nothing rattles, clicks, or flexes even when riding rough terrain or making jumps off the curb. It feels solid when riding and does not have any hint of speed wobbles at high speeds, so Kukirin did a great job with the build quality!

Motor & Speed Test

The Kukirin G2’s 800W rear hub motor might sound underwhelming compared to the G4’s 2000W monster, but in real-world use, it holds its own. You have multiple speed modes to choose from so you can tailor your ride the way you feel comfortable with.

Acceleration isn’t aggressive off the line—it ramps up smoothly, which is great for safety and beginner control. Once it gets moving, the power builds nicely all the way up to 33mph. I was even able to hold 28 mph into headwinds with only a half of a battery left. I find that impressive for a 48v 800 watt motor to handle so kudos to Kukirin!

Tires & Handling

This is where the G2 beats the G4. After riding both electric scooters during my testing and for fun, I like the tires on the Kukirin G2 more than the tires on the Kukirin G4. 

  • Kukirin G2 Tires: 10” standard width, hybrid tread, tubeless

  • Kukirin G4 Tires: 11” extra wide, flat-profile tubeless

While the G4 tires help with stability at high speeds, they make turning feel awkward, almost like you’re riding a flat shaped tire with no rounded edges. The G2’s tires are skinnier and offer much better maneuverability, making it safer and more fun to ride in tight spaces or curves. In my opinion the tires on the G2 are better and more comfortable to ride than on the G4.

Suspension System

Kukirin nailed the suspension here. The suspension on the Kukirin G2 feels like you are floating on a cloud. No joke. Even though the G2 and the G4 have the same suspension setup, the feeling when riding is better on the G2 than on the G4. The G2 handles curbs, rocky paths, and uneven sidewalks like a champ. The result: No clanking, no bottoming out, just a smooth, “cloud-like” ride.

Braking Performance

The brakes on the Kukirin G2 are the same as on the G4. They are mechanical disc brakes and were quiet as a mouse. During testing I did a high speed brake test to see how well they would perform. The brakes were tested from 25 mph to a full stop.
