What Is The Range Of The Ausom Gallop?

When it comes to electric scooters, one of the most important considerations is the battery’s range and the convenience of recharging. The Ausom Gallop doesn’t disappoint in this department, offering impressive range and a user-friendly charging system. The Gallop boasts a stated range of up to 55 miles on a single charge. However, it’s essential to remember that this range is typically tested with a 165-pound rider in speed mode 1 on a flat surface.

Real-world usage can vary significantly depending on factors like rider weight, terrain, and speed. For those who like to push the limits and ride hard and fast, it’s advisable to take the stated range and cut it in half. I estimate the Ausom Gallop can reach 25–30 miles riding in dual-motor mode and in speed mode 3. This provides a more realistic estimate of the scooter’s range under more demanding conditions.

How To Charge The Ausom Gallop:

Charging the Ausom Gallop is a straightforward process made even more convenient by its dual charging ports located on the side of the scooter. You have the option to use either one of these ports or both simultaneously. The Gallop comes with a 2-amp charger, which, when used alone, will take approximately 12 hours to charge the scooter from empty. However, you have the ability to reduce charging time by half when using a second charger simultaneously. I usually don’t run my batteries all the way to empty and charge them each time before I ride. In my opinion, its not good practice to run your batteries all the way down to empty. If you forget to charge it after 24 hours you can actually damage your battery.

The Gallop Has A Removable Battery:

One standout feature of the Ausom Gallop is the removable deck lid and battery. The deck lid is equipped with a combination lock, initially set at 000 from the factory, providing added security to prevent theft. Once you unlock the deck lid, you gain access to the removable lithium-ion battery nestled inside. To remove the battery, remove the plug, and the battery pulls right out.

What sets the Gallop apart from other electric scooters is the organization and cleanliness of its battery compartment. Unlike some other scooters that may have wires, controllers, and foam scattered throughout, the Gallop keeps everything neatly organized and hidden from view.

The convenience of a removable battery cannot be overstated, as it allows for easy swapping or charging without the need to bring the entire scooter indoors. This feature adds to the overall practicality and user-friendliness of the Ausom Gallop.

Can I ride The Ausom Gallop At Night??...Oh Yeah!

The Gallop is equipped with a total of 10 lights, strategically positioned to brighten up your path and ensure you’re seen by others on the road. These lights include a headlight, a taillight, two front lights, and six sidelights, creating a comprehensive lighting system that significantly improves nighttime riding safety.

The dual LED headlight deserves special mention. Unlike many scooters that offer headlights primarily for cosmetic purposes, the Gallop’s headlight is genuinely bright enough to illuminate your way during nighttime rides. While adding an additional, more powerful light might be advisable for frequent nighttime riders, the stock headlight performs admirably, ensuring you have a clear view of the road ahead.

But that’s not all; the Gallop goes the extra mile by incorporating practicality into its design. The left and right side deck lights, apart from adding to the scooter’s visual appeal, serve a dual purpose as blinkers when you make turns. You’ll find the control for these blinkers conveniently located on the left side of the handlebars, easily accessible and controlled by your thumb.

Safety extends to the rear of the Gallop as well, where a built-in taillight is seamlessly integrated into the rear edge of the kick plate. This taillight comes to life when you engage either brake handle, emitting a remarkably bright light that ensures you’re noticed by others on the road, even during sudden stops.

With the Ausom Gallop’s extensive lighting system, your nighttime rides become not only safer but also more enjoyable. Whether you’re cruising through city streets or exploring dimly lit trails, you’ll appreciate the enhanced visibility and peace of mind that these lights provide.

The 4" LCD Display And Hidden Menu Features

The Ausom Gallop boasts an impressive 4-inch LCD screen, akin to its sibling, the Leopard, offering a wealth of information and control options at your fingertips. This intuitive display is your cockpit for keeping track of essential data and customizing your riding experience.

The LCD display on the Gallop provides you with a clear view of crucial information that enhances your ride. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect to see on the screen:

  • Speed: Stay updated on your current speed, allowing you to maintain a safe and comfortable pace during your journey.

  • Battery Voltage: Keep an eye on the battery voltage, ensuring you’re aware of the power available for your ride.

  • Battery Level Indicator: The battery level indicator provides a visual representation of your remaining battery charge, allowing you to plan your ride accordingly.

  • Odometer and Trip: Track your overall mileage with the odometer and reset it for individual trips, helping you monitor your riding distances.

  • Speed Mode: Easily switch between different speed modes to suit your preferences and riding conditions.

  • Headlight Control: Control the scooter’s headlights, ensuring you have the right level of illumination for your surroundings.

  • Single or Dual Motor Mode: Adjust the motor configuration, choosing between single or dual motor mode to tailor your ride to your needs.

Beyond these standard features, the Ausom Gallop also hides a secret menu, accessible by pressing the power button three times. In this secret menu, you’ll find a range of advanced settings that allow you to fine-tune your riding experience to your liking. These settings include options like cruise control, unit preferences (KM or MPH), zero or non-zero start, acceleration strength, and electronic braking strength. Detailed instructions on how to access and configure these settings can be found in the included user manual, providing you with a personalized and adaptable riding experience.

With the Ausom Gallop’s feature-rich LCD display, you not only stay informed about your ride but also gain the flexibility to customize various aspects of your scooter’s performance. It’s a user-friendly interface that puts you firmly in control of your electric scooter experience.

Is the Ausom Gallop a Good Choice for Commuters?

While electric scooters often cater to the needs of commuters seeking a lightweight and portable solution, the Ausom Gallop takes a different path. It’s not the ideal choice for those looking for an easily transportable scooter to hop on a train or fit in the trunk of their Uber. The Gallop carries a substantial weight, tipping the scales at 88 pounds, making it one of the heavier options in the electric scooter market. Despite its weight, the Gallop incorporates a folding stem mechanism similar to its sibling, the Leopard, adding a layer of practicality.

To fold the Gallop for transport or storage, you’ll start by unscrewing the wheel knob on the front until the little insert comes out. Then, you can easily pull out the pin located on the side and fold the stem down. Reversing this process allows you to unfold and lock the stem securely in place. While the folding mechanism does make the Gallop somewhat portable, it’s worth noting that lifting this substantial scooter may require a bit of muscle. You might need a few weeks at the gym to build up the strength needed to handle the Gallop’s weight.

The Ausom Gallop’s primary focus is delivering an exhilarating and powerful ride, and it excels in this regard. While it may not be the most lightweight or easily transportable option, its folding feature does offer the flexibility to transport it in a trunk or SUV to your desired riding location.

Pros:

  • Top Notch Quality!

The Gallop boasts exceptional build quality, featuring an aluminum alloy frame and impeccable construction that ensures durability and longevity.

  • It's Scary Fast!

With its dual motors and 2400w high power output, the Gallop delivers blazing speed, making it an exhilarating choice for thrill-seekers.

  • Acceptable Range For Size

Considering its size and weight, the Gallop's range of 25-30 miles on a single charge is commendable, offering ample riding time for your adventures.

  • Features Of More Expensive Scooters

The Gallop punches above its weight class, with features like the removable battery that often mirror those of much pricier scooters, delivering exceptional value.

  • Bright LCD Screen With Lots Of Info!

The 4-inch LCD screen offers clear visibility of crucial information, keeping you informed and in control during your rides.

  • Smooth Swing Arm Suspension

The Gallop's adjustable suspension system ensures a comfortable and smooth ride, even on challenging and uneven terrain.

  • Off-Road Ready

Equipped with professional off-road tires and sturdy construction, the Gallop is ready to tackle various terrains, adding versatility to your riding experience.

Cons:

  • Throttle Has A Dead Spot

The Gallop's throttle exhibits a dead spot at the beginning, resulting in a somewhat jerky start. This lack of gradual acceleration can make it challenging to maintain a constant speed without abrupt movements.

  • Squeaky Disc Brakes

I've noticed over time that the brakes on the Gallop tend to become squeaky. This issue, also seen in its sibling, the Leopard, can be an annoyance due to the persistent noise when stopping.

  • Can't Reach The Top Speed

Some riders have reported difficulty reaching the stated top speed of 41 mph. While this could be related to factors such as rider weight and terrain, achieving the advertised top speed may not always be straightforward.

  • Unrealistic Range

While the Gallop claims a range of up to 55 miles on a single charge, real-world conditions often yield lower figures. However, the 25-30 miles achieved in testing remains respectable for a scooter of this size and power.

  • Handlebars Could Be Wider

When riding an electric scooter of this size and speed, its good to have handlebars as wide as possible. This adds to the stability of the scooter and makes it easier to steer.

In summary, the Ausom Gallop is a high-quality electric scooter that offers impressive performance and value for its price. While it excels in various aspects, including speed and build quality, it does have some quirks, such as throttle behavior and brake noise, that potential buyers should consider in their decision-making process. Ultimately, the Gallop caters to riders seeking a thrilling and robust electric scooter experience, with its advantages far outweighing its minor drawbacks.

Is The Ausom Gallop A Good Value for Money?

In the realm of electric scooters, the Ausom Gallop stands out as an exceptional value proposition that punches well above its weight. When you weigh the features, performance, and quality it offers against its price tag, it becomes evident that the Gallop is nothing short of a steal.

At just $1,249.00, the Ausom Gallop represents an outstanding value for money, and here’s why:

  • More Power for Your Buck: For a mere $300 more than its smaller sibling, the Ausom Leopard, the Gallop provides more than twice the power with its dual motors. This substantial upgrade in power translates to a thrilling riding experience that sets it apart.

  • Hydraulic Brakes vs. Mechanical Brakes: The Gallop boasts hydraulic brakes, a significant safety improvement over mechanical brakes. This enhanced braking system offers precise and reliable stopping power, ensuring a safer ride.

  • Removable Deck Lid and Battery: Convenience takes center stage with the Gallop, thanks to its removable deck lid and battery. This feature not only facilitates quick charging outside of the scooter but also enables effortless battery swaps, maximizing your riding time.

  • Higher Top Speed and Longer Range: With a higher top speed and a longer range on a single charge, the Gallop doesn’t hold back on delivering an electrifying performance that allows you to go the distance, both in terms of speed and travel.

  • Enhanced Lighting: The Gallop shines in the lighting department, offering superior illumination with its array of lights, ensuring heightened visibility during nighttime rides.

When you compare the Ausom Gallop to other electric scooters in its price range, you’d be hard-pressed to find a competitor that matches its specs and features for under $1,300. The Gallop’s ability to deliver such a comprehensive and high-performance package at an affordable price makes it a standout choice for riders in this budget range.

Without a doubt, I highly recommend the Ausom Gallop not only to those considering the Leopard but to anyone in search of a remarkable electric scooter that provides unbeatable value for their hard-earned money.
