The Hidoes B10 Electric Bike Review: A Powerhouse in Performance and Design
Electric bikes are becoming more advanced, offering more powerful motors, better battery life, and superior ride quality. The Hidoes B10 Electric Bike is a standout in this growing market. With its 1,000W motor, rugged design, and sleek aesthetics, this electric bike claims to deliver a thrilling and high-performance ride. But how does it truly perform in real-world conditions? In this detailed review, we’ll dive into every aspect of the B10, from its design to its performance, giving you everything you need to know before making a purchase.
Design and Build Quality: Rugged Yet Stylish
The first thing that catches your eye with the Hidoes B10 is its motorcycle-inspired design. The frame is solid and sturdy, designed to withstand the rigors of daily commuting, off-road trails, and high-speed rides. One of the most notable features is the motorcycle-style front suspension fork, which significantly enhances stability. Its stable enough to ride one handed even at higher speeds.
The attention to detail in the design is evident. The battery is cleverly integrated into the frame, mimicking the look of a traditional motorcycle fuel tank. This sleek integration not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also provides a well-balanced center of gravity, contributing to better handling.
The build quality of the Hidoes B10 is impressive. Every component feels robust and durable, from the thick 20-inch by 4-inch fat tires to the leather-like handle grips and storage bag. This electric bike is clearly designed for those who value both form and function, making it a great option for riders who want a stylish and sturdy ride.
Motor and Performance: Raw Power in Every Ride
At the heart of the Hidoes B10 is its 1,000W rear hub motor, making it one of the most powerful e-bikes available at this price point. The bike has an impressive 60 Nm of torque, ensuring you have plenty of power for uphill climbs, off-road adventures, or even battling strong headwinds. When you hit the throttle, the bike takes off like a rocket, making acceleration both exhilarating and effortless.
During my testing of the Hidoes B10 I was able to easily ride in the grass and up grass hills and berms without losing much speed. Highway overpasses are also no challenge for the Hidoes B10 as it easily cruises to the top without any issues.
With a top speed of 28 mph, the B10 is fast enough for most urban and suburban riders. However, with power comes noise. The motor is noticeably louder than other e-bikes, especially when pushing the bike to its top speed, but the tradeoff for such raw power may be worth it for most riders.
Battery Life and Range: Strong but Realistic Expectations
The 48V 12.5Ah battery on the Hidoes B10 promises up to 40 miles of range on a single charge. However, real-world conditions often reduce this range. Factors like terrain, rider weight, and how frequently you use the throttle can all impact the total range. Based on my testing, the real-world range hovers around 25-30 miles when using the throttle consistently in its highest speed mode, which is still quite good for a bike of this size and power.
Charging the battery from empty to full takes approximately 4-6 hours. The charging port is on the right front of the “tank”. Make sure to plug the charger into the outlet first and then into the bike. Do the same in reverse when its fully charged. Overall, the battery life is competitive for its class, but riders should manage their expectations depending on how they plan to ride.
Braking System: Adequate but Could Be Improved
The dual mechanical disc brakes on the Hidoes B10 provide reliable stopping power, but they do have their drawbacks. While they perform well during regular rides and can bring the bike to a complete stop from 20 mph fairly quickly, the brakes can be a bit noisy. The squeaking, which is common with many mechanical disc brakes, is something that could be improved in future models.
That said, with a bit of adjustment out of the box, the brakes can be tightened to improve their overall performance. Unfortunately, it did not do much for the squeaking noise coming from the disc brakes. Hydraulic disc brakes would be a welcome upgrade, but for the price point, the mechanical brakes do a decent job.
Suspension and Comfort: Smooth Rides with Room for Improvement
One of the standout features of the Hidoes B10 is its motorcycle-style suspension system. The front suspension fork absorbs most bumps and road imperfections, making it an ideal bike for both urban commuting and light off-road adventures. The suspension can also be adjusted, allowing riders to choose between a softer or stiffer ride, depending on their preference.
The Hidoes B10’s oversized leather seat, while visually appealing, leaves something to be desired in terms of comfort on longer rides. The seat’s built-in suspension doesn’t do enough to cushion against road vibrations, and after about 30 minutes, my rear end began to feel some discomfort. Unfortunately, the seat design doesn’t really allow you to change the seat so you are kind of stuck with what you got.
Tires and Handling: Excellent Grip and Versatility
The 20-inch by 4-inch fat tires on the Hidoes B10 are perfect for handling a variety of terrains. These wide tires provide excellent grip and stability, especially on loose surfaces like gravel, grass, and dirt trails. Their ability to absorb small bumps adds to the overall comfort of the ride, and they perform well in various weather conditions.
Thanks to these tires, the B10 is a versatile e-bike, suitable for urban commutes, trail riding, and everything in between. The fat tires work in tandem with the powerful motor and suspension system to offer a smooth, controlled ride that feels secure even on uneven terrain.
Cockpit and Controls: User-Friendly and Well-Designed
The cockpit of the Hidoes B10 is well thought out, with a user-friendly layout and easy-to-access controls. The LCD display provides all the essential information, including battery level, speed, pedal assist mode, and trip data. The screen is easy to read even in bright sunlight, and it dims slightly when the headlight is on for better nighttime visibility.
The handlebar features a half-twist throttle, adding to the motorcycle-like experience. This throttle provides instant power delivery from a complete stop, so riders should be cautious when engaging it, as the bike can take off quickly.
On the left handlebar, you’ll find the control panel, which includes buttons for adjusting pedal assist levels and turning the headlight on and off. The pedal assist system offers five levels, allowing riders to choose the amount of motor assistance they need. The system works seamlessly, giving you full control over how much effort you want to put into pedaling.
Lighting and Visibility: Functional but Not Exceptional
The High-Dose B10 comes equipped with a large LED headlight for increased visibility during night rides. While the headlight is functional for urban environments with street lighting, it may not be bright enough for darker, rural roads. Riders who frequently ride at night might want to consider adding an extra front light for better illumination.
The rear of the bike doesn’t come with a built-in taillight, so riders will need to attach one themselves to ensure visibility from behind. For city riders, this setup is adequate, but additional lighting would enhance safety, especially for those riding in low-light conditions.
Final Verdict: A Powerful, Stylish E-Bike with Room for Refinement
The High-Dose B10 electric bike delivers an impressive combination of power, style, and versatility. With its 1,000W motor, fat tires, and motorcycle-inspired design, it’s one of the most exciting and powerful e-bikes available at its price point. Riders will enjoy the bike’s rapid acceleration, high top speed, and stable ride quality, making it a great choice for both city commuting and off-road fun.
However, there are a few areas where the bike could be improved, such as the comfort of the seat, the performance of the brakes, and the brightness of the headlight. Despite these minor drawbacks, the High-Dose B10 offers exceptional value for its price, making it a strong contender in the electric bike market.
