3 Axis Compass Calibration Tutorial

If you own an Autel Evo 2 or Evo 2 Pro drone, then you know that it’s important to keep your drone’s compass calibrated to ensure a smooth and stable flight. With the latest software update 2.5.12 and app update, Autel has added a new 3 axis compass calibration process to the Evo 2 drones. In this tutorial, we will go over how to perform the new 3 axis compass calibration on your Evo 2 drone.

There Are 2 Ways To Calibrate Your Compass

Before we get started, it’s important to note that there are different ways to perform a compass calibration on your Evo 2 drone. We will cover two methods here, but feel free to choose the one that works best for you.

The first method is to use the Autel Explorer app to perform the calibration. To do this, simply open the app and connect your drone. Go to the Settings menu and select the “IMU & Compass” option. From there, choose “Calibrate Compass” and follow the on-screen instructions. You will need to rotate the drone in a specific pattern and orientation for each axis, as directed by the app.

The second method involves using the drone’s physical buttons to initiate the calibration process. First, power on your drone and remote control. Press and hold the “Intelligent Flight” button on the remote control until you hear a beep. Then, press the “A” button on the drone to start the compass calibration process. You will need to rotate the drone in the same pattern and orientation as with the app method.

No matter which method you choose, it’s important to remember to perform the calibration in an area with minimal interference from metal objects, power lines, or other sources of electromagnetic interference.
